Re: Request: Preventing accidental note deletion

I think that these preferences go into this plist file:
/Users/XXXX/Library/Preferences/com.evernote.Evernote.plist
Nope. I took a look with PlistEdit Pro, and there is no pref in there for this.
There are these prefs in EN itself:
"Confirm on Tag Deletion"
"Confirm on Saved Search Deletion"
But these do not appear in the plist either! You would think that they would.
Would be nice to get to the bottom of this, as I use EN to store invoices and important documents etc.
Are you sure that there is such a warning for deleting notes? If there was, you would think a reset would be in the prefs like for Tags and Saved Searches.
Thanks again.

It would be easy to make Evernote at list a basic to-do list manager if they would allow to add to-dos to a notebook (instead of notices only) and to assign due dates and priorities.
Offering notification options would make the thing perfect.
Cannot be sooo complicated...
Does anyone know whether this will come?
Otherwise EverNote is not for me - at least not if they do not start to integrate with tools like RTM... (Nozbe is too expensive as said)...
There once was a tall called EverMilk, but development has been ceased...

It seems the import is only for OneNote 2007. Unfortunately I am still using OneNote 2003. Does that mean I can't import OneNote notes into Evernote?

Sharing without web access

Hi!
Is there
a) any way to share something (apparantly only notebooks can be shared) using the standalone windows program for EverNote only
b) a way that allows users with whom I share to see (and work with) my shared notebooks in their installation of the standalone windows program?
For b) it currently seems as if the shared notebooks can only be edited via the web-bases interface
Or am I missing something?
Thanks.

I encounter the same problem on my Hero
I cannot slect tags. The button doesn't do anything anymore. Not when creating a new note, not when appending one.
Unfortunately, the proposed workaround didn't work for me.

In my previous post I said :
Finally found an encryption system, for images, that works in EVERNOTE. Its a bit more effort but I checked and it works fine for the Mac desktop application and on the web site.
1) Select File - Print .. then from the print dialogue select PDF
2) ... Select "Save as PDF" and in the save dialogue select "Security Options"
3) ... In PDF Security Options tick the box "Require password to open document" then enter (AND REMEMBER) your password. Hit "OK"
4) ... Back in the save dialogue press "Save" after checking the name you are saving as.
This produces an encrypted PDF that allows you to have sensitive data such as Photos of your credit card and Passport in Evernote.
Unfortunately this doesn't work on the iPad. Not in Safari or in the App .
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this system does not work on the iPad?
Is it a "feature" of iOS?

I tend to use tags for dates
100729
100730
100731
which automatically nest into this month
1007
100729
100730
1008 etc
so it's really easy to find notes that are relevant to today or tomorrow - and you get, effectively, a 43 folders arrangement

Another problem with this lack of integration - I can open encrypted pdfs in EN on the Mac, but they just appear as blank pages on the ipad. If I could then route them through to goodreader I should be able to decrypt them.

Feature Request: Mini Note Window

If it already exists, I haven't been able to find it, but on the desktop client I keep finding myself wishing there was a small separate window in an "always on top mode" (front Z-order) that I could use to just jot random notes as I'm doing something else. The windows desktop client is large and bulky even in the smallest usable dimensions and I find myself opening note pad and then cutting and pasting into evernote later.

Evernote for iPhone no longer shows any contents

I've just had the strangest Evernote iPhone bug occur. None of my favorited notes are available in the app when offline. Even worse, I click into any of my existing notes when I am connected online and the contents are empty -- I can append text but nothing else.
Worse still, if I create a new note from my iPhone, I cannot access any of its contents right afterwards in the iPhone app while connected via LAN. I can only append text to the existing note I just created.
This has basically rendered Evernote for the iPhone absolutely useless other than as a note appending device.

Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the acknowledgement. I suppose that's all I can expect at this point. I've been watching the forums for a year, hoping that you folks add the ability to have folders/subfolders. I understand EN had related features in the past. And I certainly understand the desire to support tags, many apps are doing that now-a-days.
EN is definitely the superior notes solution out there. So I think expectations are high that it would have all the basic functions that one would expect. Thanks for paying attention to these forums and listening to the users.

I think that's a feature of iOS 4. I.e. in iOS4, applications can register for the ability to open certain types of files, and Evernote responds to that correctly.

If you only ever type text, then the note should be editable on the iPad/iPhone. The problem comes if you introduce formatting on the desktop via the formatting buttons or via pasting/clipping from a rich text source.
